I do not like April Fool's Day. I don't think much is funny
when the joke is on me.
Okay, here's a pic of me and Oly at the Bostonian show a week
ago. I can't decide if my bangs look cute or dorky in this
pic, but I'm just going to go with cute and not think about
it anymore. I thought it was appropriate to have a picture
of the two of us on this main page because the site is both
Oly's and mine. Actually, he designed it and is currently
paying for it, so technically, it's his. I will pay him back,
I swear.
I hope everyone's Easter was good. Mine was pleasant and
simple, as all holidays are when you have no extended family.
My mother, my sisters, Chris, Mike, and I sat around my mom's
apartment and told funny stories. It was fun, as always.
I feel hungover, but I know I can't be. I spent two hours
in bed this morning somewhere between dreams and reality.
It was fun at first, but now I feel exhausted and disoriented.
I did realize something though last night that I always KNEW
was strange and entertaining, but never really took out the
time to think about it: The Huxtable family do a lot of role
playing to teach each other lessons. I mean, these guys go
all out with costumes, accents, fake names. DAYS worth of
planning. Why does Rudy have an old woman outfit just ready
for dress-up of this nature? I mean, they put on skits, like,
everyday! Even Cockroach comes over and thinks it's weird.
They get so into it. "I think we should teach Theo a
lesson," and every last one of the five or six of them
perk up, their eyes glowing and eager, their hands rubbing
together, like they're ALL on the same fucking page about
exactly how to make Theo realize that being on your own is
difficult. They made the house into an apartment, they each
had multiple characters to play with completely different
costumes. They CLEARED OUT HIS ROOM to make it look like a
new apartment, gave him fake money to learn to manage, and
put ALL his belongings in a room where Claire pretended to
be the owner of "Furniture City." This all happened
by 10am on a Saturday and they decided to do this Friday night.
Okay, this is all very strange, but what was the most striking
to me was how much Theo bought into it. Sure, he laughed a
little at first, "Okay, Vanessa..OH! I mean Amanda."
Then, when he couldn't "afford" his furniture back
or food (from "Milly's Restaurant" aka the kitchen),
he'd panick. "I don't HAVE that much money," he
cried as if the fucking guy would NEVER eat again. Okay, great,
he's learning a lesson, but can you REALLY get that stressed
about it when you know it's a game that will be over in about
five minutes? They're fucking weird. Maybe I'm just jealous.
I'm gonna have me and my friends put on skits regularly to
teach each other lessons. That would be awesomenot. I may
go back to this again one day. I don't think we've exhausted
this perplexity.
