little later...
In "Sliding Doors," Gweneth's character comes home
from a night of waiting tables and says, "It's amazing
how you can actually begin to hate things like tuna."
Alright, I think the line is a little different, but let's just
say, I think of it often. I even had a good night tonight, but
the details can really get to me. For example, when someone
asks for a cup of water, then another person says, "Oh,
I'll have water too," and the rest of the table says, "Might
as well just bring a round of waters," I want to kill myself.
When your job is about every dollar, every single dollar counts.
So, today, the issue with the busser sort of pissed me off.
The situation was this - the busser didn't bus a single one
of my tables. NOT ONE because she was rolling all the silverware
into napkins - something we're all supposed to do at the end
of the night. I didn't ask her to do my roll-ups for me, but
I DO want her to bus my tables. So, she didn't lift a finger,
but the boss said we still needed to give her 2% of our sales.
I'm sorry, I'm not giving 2% of my sales when that equals 10%
of my tips for doing something so fucking easy that I did not
ASK her to do for me. I'll give her a dollar for rolling silverware,
but how did she earn a bussers salary when she didn't bus my
goddamn tables? I gave what I had to, but I have to say, I was
pissed. Point about every dollar counting - I owned her $8,
which is a lot on a Monday night when you don't do a goddamn
thing to deserve it. Yeah, I guess it's stupid, but I can't
help it. I was mad.
I have SO much to write about this, but I haven't been able
to find much time to do anything these past few days. I just
can't get my shit together.
I didn't watch the show tonight. I'm hoping my tape of it comes
tomorrow morning so I can write about it and post it up. I heard
the details through a few others, and I have a lot to say about
it. There is a lot of explanation needed about the mission.
It's not very interesting, but it makes a huge difference. This
mission caused a lot of controversy between the cast and production.
God, I am boring myself to tears here. Okay, I'm going to stay
in tomorrow and do some serious work on this Thought I'm writing.
Let's hope it doesn't take five years to write. |
