Don't
you love those Saturdays when you have nothing to do and you're
psyched about it because you don't want to do a thing? You
just want it to rain outside, and you want to just curl under
your covers, watching 80's movies, maybe reading a book, drifting
in and out of sleep all day without a care in the world. Today
isn't one of those days, but I'm definitely treating it like
it is. I slept in. I've been eating Dunkin Donuts and beef
jerky, and really thinking about doing something
productive. Does that help?
I put that shit up on craigslist. Hey, that's something. Now
I need to go under my bed and see what I've got there.
I have to work tonight. I don't have the energy, and I'm thinking
with the weather predictions, it may not be the most lucrative
night of my life. Not to mention I lost my voice. I'm worried
about a few stupid things. I guess they're not stupid, but
I'm worried, nonetheless. Moving is hard. Even BOXES are expensive.
Economy Hardware was trying to charge me $5 a BOX. Not even
a big box. I'm like, "HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT???!!"
I checked online. Even UPS sells you 10 boxes for $10. Fine,
a dollar a box. That sounds reasonable. I think boxes shouldn't
be more than a dime, if you ask me, but whatever, I'll pay
the dollar. $5 a box?? Ridiculous.
LA. God, can't believe I'm moving there. It was one place
I swore I would never move. One place I swore I'd never see
myself. Can't even believe it. And even though it is a world
that redefines peer pressure, I think I'm going to like it.
Isn't that strange? I don't like how stretched apart everything
is. I like Boston and New York and Chicago - with things all
piled up on each other. Where buildings rise three stories
or more. All those damn flat buildings, blocks stretching
for miles where all you see is sky. I don't like that. And
the trees. I need to near a forest. I need to smell the woods
a little bit. Palm trees don't count. Long sticks with a feather
on top. Big deal. And this no rain factor? It's not really
a plus because without rain, you don't have that amazing post-rain
smell in the air - where everything on earth feels refreshed.
Not to mention the fact that whenever it does actually rain,
everyone on the road flips out because they have no idea how
to drive when the ground isn't perfectly dry.
But I'm still thinking I'm going to love it. Weird.
Okay, maybe I should go and actually do something.
