Well, I have to tell you. I
had a lovely birthday. YAAAAAAYYYYY!!! Work was great - my
work friends all decorated my cubical with streamers, balloons,
and signs. I got a Starbucks gift certificate (Vanilla lattes...mmm),
beef jerky, and cards. I had an absolutely WONDERFUL lunch
and incredible flowers - just BEAUTIFUL, sweet, thoughtful
flowers. A great writer wrote a poem just for me! My coworkers
took me out to dinner. SO good. Then we went to St. Nicks
and got a little drunky. My friend drove my car home, no drunk
driving for me. I was in bed and passed out by 11:20pm. I
LOVE going to bed early. Tonight I'm going to hang out with
some other friends. So, I'm extending my birthday to today.
It was the perfect, simple birthday.
I'm in serious need of gatorade, so I'm headed to 7-11. Just
wanted to let you know it was a really great day. Thank you
all for your emails. I feel good. That feels wonderful.
I'm going to add to this entry. I've always been torn by the
idea of living in a small town versus the big city. Well,
not torn in the sense that I've actually debated on whether
or not to move to the country, but I've always been romanced
by the idea. I'm watching Doc Hollywood, and this movie always
makes me think about how great it would be to live in their
town. I just feel like you'd live longer in a place like that.
Somewhere beautiful - giant trees, ponds, lakes, safety, security.
The kind of place where your kids can run around at night,
and the only thing you worry about is their tripping over
a tree root. Just sounds nice there because it doesn't seem
like money matters - life does. There isn't "stuff"
to have. You have your home, and there's a community, and
people celebrate the tiny things. There's no crazy competition
and coldness like you find in a city. It just seems like one
can relax. It sounds like peace.
I am a city lover though too, and I could never be too far
from tall buildings, but I just always wonder about how great
small town living would be. |
