I'm
going to discuss Religion and Catholicism for a bit here.
I'm not going to go into it as deeply as I would like because
I'm just thinking on my feet here. This is not a final
draft. I haven't even figured out what I'm going to say.
I'm just gonna think out loud for a minute. I've been raised
as a Catholic. I've gone to Catholic private schools since
kindergarten. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Roseland,
NJ from K-6th. 7th grade is when I entered into Oak Knoll.
It's full name is Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child Jesus.
Yup. I graduated there in moved on to Boston College -
a Catholic, Jesuit University. Theology has been a required
course every school year of my life for 17 years. Did you
hear me? 17 years. 13 of the years - it was a class I took
every single day. I went to mass on Sunday every week until
I was a sophomore (and started feeling rebellious). I cantered
almost all the prayer services in school, and I sang in
front of the Church on all those Sundays. We had morning
prayer in every homeroom. We had another prayer in every
theology class. We had prayer retreats every fall and spring.
My late uncle was not only a priest, but a professor of
theology at Scranton University, and was a world scholar
in religion traveling to the Holy Land at least once a
year. My mom's best friend is a priest. I'm going to go
out on a limb here and declare myself pretty fucking educated
on the topic, okay? Sure, I don't have the Bible memorized
like some of you, but I've read the whole damn thing, written
papers upon papers and took tests upon tests on thousands
of those passages. As someone who had Catholicism shoved
down my throat (without any complaint from me), you'd think
I'd be pretty anti-everything since we Catholics are not
exactly famous for our tolerance. However, it's not the
case. I was raised to understand why Catholicism was developed
- what its original intention was, how beautiful and good
it is supposed to be before a couple power and money hungry
assholes took over and turned a religion into an angry
force of hatred, impatience, and ignorance. YES, I said
IGNORANCE.
Now, I'm NOT anti-Catholic. What I am is anti-people who decided that being Catholic
means that they need to hate people for being unlike them. Non-Catholics do that
to, but I can't speak for them. One group at a time.
Here is a quote/hymn/prayer that really stuck with ME: "God is Love, and
all who live in Love live in God." It's that simple. I have yet to find
a quote in the Bible that says a damn thing about how it's our obligation as
Catholics to judge and punish others. Why do people think that because they love
God, they know have His power to stand at the Gates and pick who goes in? How
fucking dare they? God told us to do one fucking thing - LOVE EACH OTHER. You
leave God's judgment to GOD, and take care of yourself. Every single time a person
runs out and hurts another person, acts out of hatred and intolerance in the
name of God - it's the most disgusting, ignorant, and hypocritical thing he or
she can do. God told you to do ONE FUCKING THING. JUST ONE. Love each other.
It's that simple. But what do people do? They hate in the name of God. They HATE
in the name of LOVE. I'm sorry, but it's completely enraging.
What the fuck is wrong with the people out there who are not accepting? Who are
these people who encourage anger? Why don't you just do what you think is right
for yourself and just mind your own fucking business?
Two people love each other, make each other happy, live good lives, and you hate
them because they both happen to have dicks? I'll just never understand you people.
Just be KIND. Just be nice. Just love everyone, and it's all beautiful.
I was just watching this Kirk Cameron show where he went on about how wrong homosexuality
is. I wanted to throw up. What the HELL does he think he's doing? "Hi, everyone.
My name is Kirk Cameron. You might remember me as Mike from the Growing Pains.
Well, I'm here to tell you that I'm perfect, I have a thrown in Heaven with my
name carved in it. You can't see my wings, but I swear they're there. Anyway,
I came down from Heaven to tell you that if you're gay, then I want you to die,
and I'm so angry about the fact that you think loving someone of the same sex
is okay. I'm here to think and talk about you - about how much I disapprove of
your lifestyle. I'm here to tell you that you should lie about who you are, live
a miserable life of self-hatred for not being true to who you are, and then come
sit hang out with me so we can then lead the world together into a land of bitter
stupidity."
Let's look at the 10 Commandments real quick:
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' -
Well, I think all our different ideas of God are all One - not necessarily Catholic
or Buddhist, just One great force of goodness and love.
TWO:
'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness
of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the
earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' -
Okay, I don't do this.
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' -
I do this about every other minute. Honestly, doesn't God have more to worry
about than me using a word that really doesn't have much to do with God Himself?
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' - Yeah, I
don't do this one.
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' - I do this.
SIX: 'You shall not murder.' - I'm going to agree with this one.
Murdering isn't so good. I don't think abortion is murder and that's too big
a topic to tackle right now.
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit
adultery.' - I don't encourage this, but
life get's complicated. Another topic too big for right
now.
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' -
Okay, stealing is great either. I've done this on small
scales. Taking a stick of someone's gum when they don't
know. I stole a Chocopie from my coworker's office. I told
her later though. She didn't care.
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' -
Honestly, I don't really understand this one.
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbour's house; you shall not covet your neighbour's
wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey,
nor anything that is your neighbour's.' - I do this all the time.
In fact, I think this is all I do. I covet like it's my job. If you could have
a career in coveting, I'd first have my Ph.D, and then I'd make a 7 figure income.
Okay, so there you go. I'm pretty damn far from perfect. Impure thoughts? Yeah,
if I could go a day without them, it would be a miracle.
Look, I never write about this shit because it gets me so fired up that I can't
talk rationally. I can't focus. I don't know what I want to say about it. It's
upsetting. It's very upsetting because this shit is all around me. This negative
shit. Sure, I talk about how much I hate Paula Abdul. I say how I want certain
people to die. There's a big difference though because I don't really want any
of these people to be hurt. I don't think they don't deserve to go to Heaven.
I don't think God loves them any less than anyone else. There are people out
there who think certain souls should actually burn for eternity in hell. Can
you imagine that? Burning...F O R E V E R in an actual torturous HELL with the
Devil and shit. There are people filled with so much intolerance (in the name
of our good God), that they WISH that on others. Wow. If that doesn't sound like
pure evil, I don't know what is.
I'm done talking about this. It's exhausting. I'm going
to go enjoy a lovely weekend with lovely people.

This
is AnaMay Green Clay Mask.
Here
are some of our some of our first
testimonials from our very own
readers!
"Hi Lori!
I just got my mask yesterday and I tried it last night...I LOVED
it!!
I have been using one from avon for the last year, and I like that
one...but
the thing I really like about this one is how smoothly and evenly
it goes on!
The one from avon is kinda hard to spread evenly...So anyway, after
I washed
it off, my skin felt great. I have kinda large pores, and I think
the mask
helped to clear them and make them appear smaller! So my face looks
and
feels a litte smoother today. Thanks for recommending it. " -
