"The RealWorld"
is a TV show. I understand as much as the next person that in order
to make good TV, the actual reality must be slightly skewed in the
editing room. I have no intention to disrespect BMP, who obviously
does the job right and well to keep a series going for 12 seasons
with more on the way. DO NOT take these reviews as trashing MTV
or BMP. I am supplying information to those who are interested in
knowing what it was like for US because it was not the same for
you. Do NOT take it as my being bitter, as many people assume, simply
because of the occasional frustration that what you see may not
be what we remember. "Setting the record straight" is
not how I would refer to it. I prefer to call it my showing you
funny things that happened when the cameras werent around,
what relationships were like in the house that might not have known
about, and the order of events as they happened in real time (not
Real World time.)
Sure, we "knew" what we were getting into, but each and
every one of us on this side of the fence will tell you - there
is no way we could ever really know the entire experience
would be as it turned out to be.
I had six amazing roommates, each of whom I respected and loved.
I learned more from them than I have in most social situations of
my life. To disagree with things that happened and things that were
said is not to disrespect them because all that they did and said
was what was right from their perspectives, which is admirable and
honest. I intend only to show you what I was thinking at times when
no one asked for my opinion. No fans out there could love any of
my roommates more than I did, so remember that as you read.
"Battle of
the Sexes" is the Challenge of summer '02.
It is scheduled to air January 2003. I'm really looking forward
to this one, mostly because I'm not terrified of what the world
will see. I think it will be fun-loving. Less action/adventure,
more focus on group relations. I stayed out of trouble, which gave
me peace of mind. Peace of mind = no air time, so you may not see
me. I think what we see on this show will be as new to me as it
is to you. I know a lot of shit went down when I was reading Prince
of Tides and hanging in the girls villa with Anne and Ruthie.
I'm curious to see, and I'm so excited. Should be fun.
Enjoy....
