Let's see, this is on Malik and Jisela and Rachel. Starts
off with Rachel never cleaning. This is true. She never wanted
to clean. Love her, but she was definitely perpetuating her
stereotype for being the youngest girl in the house for not
doing her responsibilities. This caused a lot of trouble between
Coral and Rachel. The house rule was that we alternated weeks.
Each person gets a week and must keep the whole house (the
public areas) clean, which includes dusting. Rachel waits
until her very last day to clean. Before that time, the house
goes to total shit. Lot of dust, and Coral and Malik are allergic
to dust. They get colds. Sneezing, stuffed up, and it's all
because whoever is supposed to dust doesn't do it. Coral also
had her best friend visiting, Delena, and she wanted the place
to look nice. She was mad at Rachel.
Thing is, Rachel was doing it to spite Coral. She didn't
like Coral asking her to clean, so she didn't do it. If she
cleaned after Coral asked her to, she would feel like Coral
won, so she would wait until enough time passed and then would
clean on her own accord. However, before that would happen,
Coral would yell at her for not cleaning and it went back
to square one. I understand what Rachel was feeling because
I was the youngest in the family and hated giving into orders,
but the truth is, that's an emotion you have to get over because
when you're supposed to clean, you better fucking do it. Pride
is not on option when six other people have to live in a shithole
because of you. I was on Coral's side for this one.
Nicole and I tried to warn Rachel. "Rachel, you need
to clean," Nicole would say. "Coral is going to
flip out because Delena's coming and you're not cleaning.
You better do it before she gets home, or she's gonna flip
out." Rachel replied, "I don't care." Then
Nicole said, "I'm just trying to look out for you, so
if you don't want to get in a fight with Coral, you better
clean." Rachel refused. It was a bad scene.
At this point in the house, Coral and I are really close.
We got over whatever little issues we were having whether
consciously or subconsciously, and we had become inseparable.
Though people weren't having month-long issues with other
people (Coral and Mike were getting along great, Nicole and
Malik were no longer ignoring each other), the little personal
problems became real. Nicole was separating from the group
entirely. I don't know exactly what happened, but it seemed
like she was withdrawing from us. Rachel and Coral were the
most distant.
Rachel had found her own friends. She met people that loved
her kind of music and she spent all her time with them going
to concerts. We rarely saw her, and that's one of the reasons
she was never home to clean. We were so fed up with the pile
of garbage that we went out of her way to keep this garbage
pile as large and obscene as possible. Coral had an idea.
We took a picture of it, scanned it into the computer, copied
and pasted a picture of Rachel and her mullet on the garbage,
and had it as the wallpaper for the computer. When she brought
home all her friends, they saw the picture and she was embarrassed.
That was the point. I think she took it out after that.
Okay, Coral and I are going for a walk. Coral cut that shirt
for me. That night was amazing. The most moving night for
me by far. It was hot in NYC. It was nearly 80 degrees and
there is NO air conditioning in the house. Production wouldn't
even let us have the fan on. It was literally unbearable to
be in the house, so Coral and I decided to go for a walk.
We had planned just to walk around the neighborhood, but we
kept going. We walked all the way west so that we were on
the West Side Highway. We weren't allowed on some pier that
was supposed to be fun, so we walked south. We were talking
a lot. We talked about important shit, we talked about stupid
shit. We were having so much fun.
Finally, we were in Tribeca. We walked all the way to the
World Trade Center. Since we had never been in that part of
town, we thought that maybe would should check out a bar.
Some bouncer was telling us to come in (probably because of
the cameras), and we hesitated because we were wearing sneakers
and whole bunch of other crap we would never wear in to bar.
The bar was packed with yuppies straight from work, and we
were just a tad out of place. I liked the décor though.
The crew was still working on form signing and all that while
Coral and I found a staircase down to some other room of the
bar. It was totally empty. They were playing 80's music. It
was a big white room filled with squishy couches. There was
this tiny little fireplace coming out of the brick wall. It
had candles in it and the rim of the brick was lined with
cigarettes for the taking. Now, smoking is bad, yes. I did
quit on New Years, so you know, but back then, Coral and I
were so psyched about the free cigarettes that we smoked as
many as we could without getting sick. We danced all over
the couches and ran around the floor. You'd think we were
five years old. Christophe, the sound guy was following our
voices from his equipment when he came downstairs to find
us. The look on his face when he saw me and Coral running
around the furniture was priceless. We stayed down there for
a half an hour, I'd say before leaving the bar to keep walking.
We were only a few blocks from the Brooklyn Bridge, and we
figured that we had come all this way, we might as well keep
walking. When we got up on the bridge and were looking over
the entire city, everything felt different. The view was incredible,
and when you get to take a step away from the city and look
at it from a distance, you take a step away from your own
life, and look at that differently as well. Coral was moved
by this, and she opened up in such a way that I felt so privileged
to be a part of this moment. You saw some of this, when she
let her guard down and cried. Well, obviously the conversation
was much longer and in depth, but you know what? That was
between me and her, and I'm not going to write about it here.
We finally got home about three to four hours later and went
to bed. Watching the episode, I thought they did on okay job,
but it was such an important and long night for us, so the
fact that it was a segment under 2 minutes long on TV really
made it seem cheaper than it was, you know?
Anyway, so the RRs come over. Now, at this point, we don't
know really all that went on with the RRs because the show
hasn't aired and we haven't had many opportunities to discuss
what was going on with them in detail. They were in the city
doing some promotional shit for their show when they literally
bumped into Mike on the street who brought them back to our
house. They cut out this really funny thing that happened.
I walked in the door and saw Ellen first. I came up to give
her a hug, and she grabbed me and wrestled me to the couch.
If you didn't see our challenge on RR, then you won't get
that, but I thought it was clever.
Okay, so Jisela and Malik with their "own sexual energy,"
as Nicole explained
let's see. Well, we all loved Jisela
when she arrived that day. Like I said, we were totally unconnected
and uneducated about all their relationships in Morocco, so
we knew what we saw for ourselves. Jisela was sweet to everyone
and full of positive energy and life. That's about all we
knew. Now, this is where I need to warn you guys about how
disappointing these further reviews will be for you because
I did not know many details about the Malik/Jisela situation.
Like I've said before, nobody tells me anything, and so often
you as viewers get more of the story than I did when I lived
with them. The RR boys had joined to hang out as well, but
only the girls really appeared on the show.
They're planning to go to a strip club. I don't know anything
about this because I don't go. Why? Because it's a $20 to
get in. I don't pay $20 cover because WHY WOULD SOMEONE PAY
THAT MUCH MONEY to get in anywhere? I hate covers. Rachel
and Mike are having a fight about her mom seeing the show.
I have to tell you, I was on Mike's side for this. I DO think
that none of us had the right to go on and on to her about
her relationship with her mom, that's something she needs
to work on herself, but I do think every once in a while she
needs a little push to do what SHE wants and say, "Fuck
what my mom thinks." There was stuff she wanted to do,
and wouldn't because she was afraid of her mom seeing it.
Mike was allowed to do more stuff than she was, so his telling
her to do what she wants is real easy for him because he cannot
relate.
Rock, okay now we're at this bar up by Columbia. That was
really fun. We all got pretty damn drunk, I'd have to say.
I don't know what to tell you about the night other than it
rocked. Rachel is wasted, by the way. Okay, Mike doesn't know
what he's talking about here. Rach was NOT trying to be a
pole dancer on that subway, she was trying to swing around
the pole a few times using the momentum of the train taking
off. She fell, and even the crew couldn't help but crack up.
Rachel was lying on the subway floor. You know how many people
throw up on that floor? Nasty.
Okay, now Jisela says in an interview, "Malik is feelin'
me the way I'm feelin' him. We are really good friends who
have an extreme physical attraction for one another, and we're
acting on it." Basically, they have sex. There is no
secret there. I couldn't believe it when I heard it, but it's
true. Now, it was, what we all thought to be VERY clear that
they liked each other, and were totally excited. Malik said
to me that he and Jisela had had a conversation about how
if they were interested in each other in Palm Springs maybe
they would have gotten to be on the same show. Jisela's interviews
sound like she wants to be with him. Malik is very clear about
that. They know they're far away, and they were uncommitted,
but that usually means when you're APART, NOT when you're
at the same bar. We'll discuss later.
Rachel goes to concerts. Here's this clip of Rachel's mom
scolding Kevin about not making sure Rachel doesn't do all
the things that are totally normal to do. I couldn't believe
this when I heard it. Her mom is mad controlling. I felt for
Rach when I saw that. Rachel gets some lovin' from the band
guy
good for her. This leaves Lori the only loveless
one in the house. Not. Anyway, her mom's overprotective. She
even blames us for "letting her go out." Whatever,
FOUR EPISODES LEFT. WILL IT EVER END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
